Winners of the 10th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2019, the 67th Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition, Royal Philharmonic Society Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award 2019, Cavatina Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition 2019 and the St James Chamber Music Competition 2018, the Mithras Trio came together in 2017 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

As graduates, the Trio’s skill as ensemble players has been guided internationally while working with musicians such as the Takács, Danish and Emerson Quartets and performing with violinist and violist Janine Jansen, clarinettist Andrew Marriner and the Wihan and Heath Quartets. They are passionate exponents of contemporary music and gave the world première, at the Solti Hall in Budapest, of a new piece by Péter Tornyai, who dedicated the work to the Mithras Piano Trio after working with them. They were appointed BBC New Generation Artists 2021-23 and are frequently heard on Radio 3.

The Mithras Trio opened our mini-festival in Claygate in September 2021 and we are looking forward to welcoming them back for the Patrons' Concert in our 2022-23 season.
