Echéa Quartet

The young Echéa Quartet have been collecting a string of prestigious awards, including the Royal Over-Seas League Chamber Music Competition 2021 and the Royal Philharmonic Prize for outstanding young string quartet 2019. They will perform Schubert, Mendelssohn and Beethoven quartets for us tonight.

'Shostakovich: Life, Letters and Friendship'
Celebrity Concert: Carducci Quartet with Stephen Johnson, narrator

'Shostakovich: Life, Letters and Friendship: a portrait through words and music', created and performed by the Carducci Quartet - one of the UK’s leading string quartets and interpreters of the composer’s work. Readings from his letters, interspersed with excerpts from his quartets, will throw a fascinating light on his life and turbulent times. This performance will be unmissable!

Royal Academy of Music

Young musicians from the Royal Academy of Music will perform works including “Souvenir de Florence”, a string sextet composed by Tchaikovsky in the summer of 1890. The full programme for this recital will be released in the early autumn.

A return visit to OCMS by this winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, who now has a growing international reputation as a concert pianist. Hailed as 'a new magician of the keyboard', Eric will play for us four sonatas by Mozart, Schubert and Chopin.
