“An extremely musical ensemble…showing a commitment to chamber music at the highest level”-(Martin Lovett, Amadeus Quartet)

Emerging as one of the finest ensembles of its generation, the Lawson Trio enjoys a busy concert schedule, bringing a wide range of traditional and contemporary Piano Trio music to audiences of all ages.   Recent British venues have included the South Bank Centre, Bath International Festival, the Lake District Summer Music Festival, Queen's University Belfast and Manchester University, while performances abroad have  taken them to Germany, Austria and Finland.

The first piano trio to be invited by Aldeburgh Music to take part in one of their String Quartet Residencies, the trio spent the last two weeks of January 2011 working with Colin Carr, Hugh Maguire and Simon Rowland Jones on works by Schubert, Rawsthorne, Ives and Ravel.  In July 2011 the trio travelled to Australia as one of only 8 piano trios selected from international auditions to take part in the final rounds of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, to be broadcast live on ABC Classic FM.

The Lawson Trio has given masterclasses and workshops in many schools across the UK, and in 2010 the Trio was invited to organise, host and perform in a Gala Concert celebrating ten years of Chamber Music 2000 at the Purcell Room.   Performing alongside the Lawson Trio were the Schubert Ensemble and groups of young musicians (drawn from primary and secondary schools, and specialist music institutes) coached by the Trio.    In association with this event the Lawson Trio commissioned ten new pieces (composers included Anthony Powers, Paul Patterson, Piers Hellawell and Cheryl Frances Hoad), and gave the world premiere of their own commission by David Knotts.

The Trio's schedule for 2010/11 includes performances at the South Bank Centre in London and the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.
