Concert Season 2011 - 70th SEASON - 2012Welcome to our new season of the best in Chamber music. In this our 70th year, we are in celebratory mood, promoting both compositions for piano and for strings, in solo and group ensembles. We also include a wind trio who, with their friends, will play Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds. In fact, this is the season when we will have no less than four Quintets performed. For a small society of less than 200 this is like a musical party; so, much to enjoy and celebrate. Our artists include young musicians at the start of their professional careers, others who are gaining recognition in international competitions, a Quartet regarded as possibly the best to have appeared in the last ten years, and two Celebrity concerts! The first of these is the Nash Ensemble with a lovely programme of music by Haydn, Schumann and Dvorak, and the second Celebrity concert welcomes back the amazing, charismatic Macedonian pianist, Simon Trpceski, playing works by Liszt and Schubert. We urge you, with your friends, to make the most of this opportunity to hear all these performers and particularly our celebrities. Here they are on our doorstep, in our community, musicians with international reputations. It is makes more sense to come to Claygate than to pay the new rail fares or to hunt for a parking place in Central London, and then pay London prices for your ticket. You have comfortable seating, a superb acoustic, a sociable interval and a wonderful evening of music. What more can you ask?!
