Nicola Benedetti was briefly a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin School. Although still a teenager, she has already had a brilliant start to her career. She won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2004 with her performance of Szymanowski's Violin Concerto. This has since been released on CD. Since her success in the competition she has been much in demand and won a recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon in 2004.
